Copper To Work Out For The Bucs

Terrance Copper, the wide receiver who was cut by the Saints yesterday, is scheduled to work out for the Bucs on Tuesday.
For his career, Copper has 46 catches for 600 yards, six touchdowns and a name that reminds me of Kurt Russell. With Joey Galloway still out and maybe, you know… done, the Bucs need to get another receiver that will at least act as a distraction so Jeff Garcia can get the ball to his running backs and tight ends. Maurice Stovall is not practicing because of his hamstring injury and will probably be out for a couple games (and even when he does play, he’s dropping as many as he’s catching.) The team has both Micheal Spurlock and Brian Clark on the practice squad if they need them. The question is who would you cut to bring one of them or Copper onto the team?
UPDATE: I asked Ralph from Forecast Radio about Copper and here’s what he had to say about him:
I think he’s a solid number three receiver but the Saints have some depth there. The one thing that did him in was he’s a lot like Henderson in that he can struggle catching the ball at times.
He also said he was a good special teams player who was becoming a leader on that unit. But going over the roster and knowing the injury situation, the only guy I see that can be considered truly expendable to make room for him is Josh Johnson, and I don’t know if the Bucs want to take the chance that he’s going to clear waivers. I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if they put Galloway on injured reserve. He just doesn’t seem to be getting any better.
Thanks to Ralph for the insight.

Maybe they can IR “Stone Hands” Stovall to make this move. He’s been crap all year.

He was a Quarterback at ECU wasn’t he? Any chance if he gets on the team of some superbowl steelers stuff?

@Bricen: What do you mean?

I think he talking like the Randle El to Ward wide receiver pass. I think they are mainly bringing him in to get any clues into the Saints playbook. Other than that why are we fucking with bottom of rung receivers? Odd and tiring.

Well, we need some way to get the offense to explode, no harm in trying to mix it up a little bit. If we implemented something like this it might further open the running game and keep defenses earnest.
