After losing both Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson for the season and being left with Ken Dorsey to face the defenses of Tennessee, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, the Browns decided to sign the best quarterback available to them: Bruce Gradkowski.

In other news, Cleveland is full of awful, awful people. Last week was the second time in seven seasons that Cleveland fans cheered when their starting quarterback got hurt.

“They were cheering the fact that I was hurt,” said Anderson after the 10-6 loss to the Colts. “They don’t like me. That’s well known.”

They also did the same thing in 2002 when Tim Couch, their first-ever draft pick, was hurt in a game.

”Fans have a right if they don’t like the way the team is playing or the way I am playing to boo us or boo me,” he said. ”But to cheer when I got hurt? That’s a whole other level with me.”

Me, too, Tim. I don’t think anything will ever top the Bucs game in Philadelphia when Eagles fans were ragging on Joe Jurevicius’s dying son, but cheering a season-ending injury to your own player has got to be pretty high up there. Christ, even Oakland fans stood behind Brett Favre when he played after his dad died. How big a piece of shit do you have to be to make Raiders fans look sympathetic and admirable by comparison? Answer: A huge fucking piece of shit. Everyone who cheered Anderson’s and Couch’s injuries should instantly be stricken with cancer of the asshole.

Sorry, Bruce. I know a paycheck is a paycheck, but can any amount of money be worth playing for fans who openly despise you? Watch your back, dude.
