Clifton Smith Named Special Teams POTM

December 04, 2008 at 11:43am by Scott

You may knock the football out of my hands, but you'll never knock the Dorito off my shoulder.
The humiliation of Dexter Jackson continues as Clifton Smith, an undrafted rookie out of Fresno, was named Special Teams Player of the Month — in his first month on an active roster.

Oh yeah, Jackson is still a Buccaneer. Didn’t you remember?

After last year’s awful return game, I really didn’t think it would get turned around this quickly. Smith may have a fumbling problem, but no one can deny his effect on field position, momentum and excitement. The offense has had trouble during some games moving the ball and getting into scoring position. A good returner covers up a lot of offensive deficiencies and opens up more of the playbook. I’m pretty sure the Bucs would have at least one fewer win without Smith. Congratulations, Clifton. Don’t ever let them knock that Dorito off your shoulder.
