Antonio Bryant Has A Way With Words

Someone over at TBO.com got some time with Antonio Bryant today and they spent most of their time talking about the chastising Trent Dilfer and Emmitt Smiff gave Bryant on TV. As a quick aside, I don’t know who posted this to their blog, but congratulations on just posting the quotes without a lot of commentary — it doesn’t need it.
“Last time I checked, man, don’t be a hypocrite, man. This me; you know what I’m saying. A lot of y’all can’t really walk, you know what I’m saying, on the side of the street that I can walk on and still go and put on a suit.”
When it comes time to renew my tags, I’m getting a custom plate that reads “THIS ME”.
“You got something to say to me man, say it, you know what I’m saying. Anyone of you all can [inaudible] to me and that’s Emmitt and Trent Dilfer and I really mean that. That bothers me, that bothers me.’’
Once, just once, when someone says, “Know what I’m saying?”, I’d like the interviewer to say, “No. No, I really, really don’t know what you’re saying.” That “inaudible” seems to indicate that this would have been the perfect time. Oh well.
Sadly, Bryant isn’t event he guy with the most baggage on the field. That honor goes to Jerramy Stevens, who the media seem to have finally let up on a little. Which is nice considering that he was never even charged with the thing he keeps getting hammered for. But Bryant threw a shirt at Bill Parcells in 2004 and had this incident in 2006 (DUI, resisting arrest) and two separate commentators are going to bring it up? He spent last season in exile from the league — that’s not enough? Bryant has been a model player this year, kept his nose clean and his mouth shut. What more do they want?
Would Smith be a little upset if every time his buddy Michael Irvin did a spot on TV, someone brought up cocaine or hookers or, you know, stabbing a dude in the neck with a pair of scissors? And Irvin didn’t even get punished. Bryant, again, was suspended for four games and wound up sitting out the entire season. And no one even got stabbed! Someone needs to tell Smiff to shut his damn mouf and just worry about shit like the game he’s supposed to be analyzing.
