Your 2009 Coaching Staff

The Buccaneers have finally hired the last of their coaches for the 2009 season. The final roster looks like a decent mix of experience and — how do I say this nicely? — less experience.
Raheem Morris Head Coach
Jim Bates Defensive Coordinator
Jeff Jagodzinski Offensive Coordinator
Richard Bisaccia Associate Head Coach/Special Teams Coordinator
Richard Mann Assistant Head Coach/Wide Receivers
Joe Baker Defensive Backs Coach
Joe Barry Linebackers Coach
Tim Berbenich Assistant Running Backs Coach
Ejiro Evero Defensive Quality Control Coach
Jay Kaiser Assistant to the Head Coach
Chris Keenan Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach
Steve Logan Running Backs Coach
Pete Mangurian Offensive Line Coach
Chris Mosley Assistant Offensive Line Coach
Robert Nunn Defensive Line Coach
Greg Olson Quarterbacks Coach
Alfredo Roberts Tight Ends Coach
Kurtis Shultz Head Strength and Conditioning Coach
Dwayne Stukes Assistant Defensive Backs Coach
Todd Wash Defensive Line Coach
Bisaccia gave up the running back duties and went back to strictly special teams. That’s a smart move — the special teams were good overall last year but the running backs wore down as the year went on (except for poor, poor Cadillac who just kept getting stronger.) Logan will be coaching the running backs now.
Olson somehow kept his job despite the fact that quarterback play was inconsistent and part of the reason he was hired in the first place was because of his experience with Jeff Garcia, who will very likely not be re-signed. Here’s to hoping that Garcia’s premature escrambulation and inability to see wide-the-fuck-open receivers was his own doing and not something that was somehow coached into him. Everyone do a round on the rosary for Luke McCown surviving Olson’s tutelage .
Alfredo Roberts won the tight ends coaching spot over some tough competition by Marinara Davis.
Maybe Kurtis Shultz can keep our players from straining this or tearing that this season. When he was with the Bengals as an assistant, they only wound up with two players on IR that year, which is the kind of thing I want to hear. He seems innovative, too. He introduced swimming and boxing to the Buccaneers’ regimen last year and has been known to use kickboxing as a training tool. I assume that means he teaches kickboxing techniques and doesn’t throw a roundhouse kick to a player’s face if he doesn’t finish his squats. Not that that wouldn’t be awesome.

Does it strike anyone funny that the guy responsible for teaching the running backs to run is named Logan? Or am I just that old?
Scott (February 12, 2009 at 01:18pm) :
If you were that old, they would have killed you by now.

It took me a while, but I got it.
