UPDATED: Minicamp Attendance

Barrett Ruud made it, Arron Sears and Brian Griese did not. But Keenan McCardell did. No shit. Raheem is really serious about bringing in old, broken receivers, isn’t he?
(McCardell is there as a special guest of Raheem, but I’m sure the idea crossed his mind.)
UPDATE: Greg White didn’t practice because of his motorcycle accident. He’s getting treatment and said he’ll be ready for camp.
Gaines Adams left practice early after tweaking something, but it’s not serious and he’ll continue through the minicamp (Stephen Holder from the Times has been on this story).
Jeff Faine twittered (is that a lower-case verb now?) that he’s sick but he’s sticking it out and working. Pretty cool considering he is a lock starter.

Scott, you should help young Raheem out. He’s obviously too young to know all of the great old names (guys over 40) who might be available. Maybe you could come up with a list to help him?

Bruce Allen is gone, so now we can bring Keenan back! Jon Gruden is gone so now we can bring Keyshawn back! YES! We can recapture the magic that “could’ve been” with that wonderful 2004 team!

Why can’t we go a little older and pick up alvin harper or bert emanuel?

Maybe Jerry Rice is available… Oo! Oo! No wait, Tim Brown! Tim Brown! Have to admit he’d make more yardage than Dexter Jackson.

“No Discussion” on Ruud’s extension.
On one hand if they think money is the prime motivator then all will be happy whenever they decide to talk, even if its next March.
On the other, if I were Ruud I would remember this if they let me get to the end of my contract before starting talks. In fact I’d take the same or less money from another club I thought would show me some commitment.
Perhaps they’re just waiting to get their picks under contract… but if that were the case you’d think they’d say something to that effect so as to get him in and learning the new scheme.
I get the feeling that someone doesn’t see him as the long term solution as MLB. He was great as a Tampa 2 MLB, but maybe Bates feels otherwise about his own system.
They didn’t wait to sign picks to lock up Winslow… they could craft a contract that was more cap friendly for Bryant, but they choose to pay only what they have to so they can have a drama-free exit in ’10.
Same reason I pay hookers so handsomely.
