Two In, Three Out

As we all guessed yesterday, the Bucs re-signed Sean Mahan to give them a little more flexibility on the offensive line after losing Jeff Faine for a while and Jeremy Zuttah getting banged up. You know, the Bucs really should use a high draft pick on a good guard sometime. That would really help. *hits self with brick* To make room, the team cut Kyle Arrington because they were already so satisfied with the defensive backs that did play. And with that, I think I’ve already hit my sarcasm quota for the day.
The Bucs also signed DE Tim Crowder, whom you may remember as the kid from Texas who lit up the 2007 combine and was drafted in the second round by Denver. He did nothing last year because of injuries, but there’s some potential there. Chances are that the Bucs are signing him as insurance against Kyle Moore being out for very long.
Crowder was a second-round draft pick in 2007 and he put together a fine rookie season for the Broncos, appearing in 13 games with one start and recording 22 tackles, four sacks, one forced fumble and two fumble-recoveries.
It’s not such a surprising move. He’s certainly got to be an upgrade over Maurice Evans, who they cut to make room for Crowder. And Crowder was drafted by Denver when Jim Bates was the defensive coordinator over there, so he should know what he’s getting. Bates may even know what happened to Crowder’s original shoulder bones.
Oh, and because punters aren’t real people, the Bucs released A.J. Trapasso from the practice squad. They didn’t replace him with anyone, they just wanted to hurt him.

C’mon Scott, you may have a sarcasm quota, but you can’t possibly have a sarcasm LIMIT…

Oh and I just saw some slo-mo clip of a long Cadillac run where he was horse-collared at the end. Was that as damned scary looking at full speed as it was in that clip!?
He looked like he took 2-3 painful steps on his knees and had trouble getting up. Please tell me he didn’t limp at all in real-time.

Scott, I say we increase your sarcasm for each sack allowed, each receiving TD scored against us and each loss incurred. Now that is an incentive for the Bucs to do better.

i thought caddy was hurt also after that horse collar tackle..was diff. a penalty and i believe a ref was right there.

At least Arrington’s contract is guaranteed now. He’ll go back to the practice squad. Low budget teams normally have no depth. Seems like that is going to be an issue. I wonder how many the bucs will be on the wrong end of the highlight reel?

Only vested veterans get termination pay if they’re on a roster for the first game. Arrington gets squat.

oh, that sucks, i thought it was just making opening day. oh well. he at least got a game check.
TheBrainStem (September 15, 2009 at 06:58pm) :
unless he doesn’t get that either. then he might need to be put on a suicide watch.

I think Dominik drove to his house and took his TV too.
