Bucs Somehow Get Worse Over Bye

I took yesterday off of football and went away for the day. The Bucs had the day off and I knew that no matter what game I watched, every fifth word I heard on television would be “Brettfavre” (it’s important to speak it all as one word.) Did you know he played in Green Bay yesterday, but for a different team? God, I hope he had fun out there and played like a kid. He really enjoys the game, you know.
So, yeah, I got back in the evening checked the scores. Indianapolis squeaked one out with someone other than Peyton throwing a touchdown pass. That was interesting. Hey, someone finally beat Denver, and it was a slaughter. Oh, look at that, Tennessee finally won one. With Vince Young, no less. How do you like that. Uh oh… oh, shit. Did St. Louis play? Tell me they had a bye — nope, they played. And… aww, shit.
With Tennessee and St. Louis winning their games yesterday, your Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the only winless team left in the league. And going back to last year, their streak is 11 games, but it really feels a lot longer. Oakland, Detroit, even Cleveland — all the teams everyone makes fun of — they’ve all experienced a victory this season. Man, I really thought the Bucs would win before the Rams.
I honestly think they can win next week’s game against the Packers. They certainly look beatable. But with the Bucs’ current status as the worst in the league, I’m using this post to officially kick off draft talk. We don’t know what underclassmen are going to declare, so I’m sticking with seniors right now. So, who do you want to talk about? Ndamukong Suh (Nebraska) is getting a lot of attention lately. So is that safety out of Southern Cal, Taylor Mays (note: as soon as he declares, Eric Berry (Tennessee) will be the only safety discussed on this site.) Wide receivers? How about Brandon LaFell (LSU) or Jordan Shipley (Texas)? Come on, people. We need to find a way to choke away the next nine weeks, and I only have so much ether.

I think we need to think long and hard about Gerald McCoy. Suh is a beast, but McCoy has more explosion to the quarterback. We have (hopefully) a run stuffer for the future in Roy Miller; let’s go get someone who can push the pocket, get to the quarterback, and make plays in the backfield. Hopefully there will be some jockeying for our pick, letting us drop down a few slots and still pick up Suh or McCoy, while relieving ourselves of the cap pressure *laughs* the first pick brings, and hopefully netting another second round pick.

Misery loves company, but the Rams and Titans left the party. It kind of feels like hosting a party and none of the guests show up.
I wonder if the Titans practiced more than 2.5 hours during their bye week? Whatever they did seemed to work.
I hope you’re right about the Packers, but I was hoping they would win so they wouldn’t be in such a fowl mood. Rodgers is good when he has time and he’s going to have all day against the Bucs.
Scott, have you heard anyting about Talib cursing out Morris in London?
Scott (November 02, 2009 at 10:40am) :
I heard about it, but not from a reliable source, just Steve Duemig. I could see it happening — Talib isn’t wound too tight, but Duemig is such a sensationalistic prick that it could very well be completely false. Someone will ask Raheem in his next press conference, and I’ll say something then depending on his response.

The fact Sileo got suspended from the same radio station Duemig works for I would think he would as close to truth as possible when it comes to speaking about the bucs right now. Duemig made one point during that rant, does Morris not have an assistant. Talk about cutting back. It sucks to be the only team to put up a bagel in the win column this year.
I think the bucs will have a good chance to drop down and gain picks in the draft if they don’t rattle off a few wins in a row. I don’t see that happening either.

I am hoping for a crop of defensive linemen. Someone to push the pocket and another to work inside. I am also not satisfied with our offensive line. My belief is that if you win in the trenches you win games. Cowher, hear that? We are speaking your language.

Considering all the help the Bucs need they probably should trade the #1 pick for a lower first round pick and some extras in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Unless Eric Berry comes out (which I think he will) I’m not sure there’s a player in the draft who’s so sure-fire great that he’d be worth the Bucs using the first pick of the draft on him.
