REAR ENTRIES: More Tanard Second Guessing

Look at everyone in the crowd cheering for him to just drop to the ground like a sack of laundry. Yes, that would be much more exciting.
STUPID COLUMN OF THE WEEK: I knew this would turn into a “thing” when I was watching Tanard Jackson run that interception back for a touchdown. I’ve seen a couple mentions of it here and there, but Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports devotes a pretty sizable paragraph to condemning Jackson for giving us one of the highlights of the season.

Fun play, no doubt. However, if Jackson had simply fallen to the ground, the Bucs could have run one play, taken a knee and walked away from the game. Because Jackson scored, the Bucs had to go back out on the field for six more plays by the Packers.

Fuck this guy for all the reasons I stated in the post-game entry I made on Monday. But that’s not what makes his column stupid.

Further, Jackson exposed his teammates to unnecessary injury.

There ya go. Football players exposed to injury? Heavens to betsy, no! Trust me, Jackson’s teammates were happy to block for him on a touchdown. Anyone who disagrees is a terrorist.

SMITH WINS SPECIAL TEAMS POTW: It was really just for one kick return, but it was enough to push Clifton Smith over the top for NFC Special Teams Player of the Week. Congratulations to him. It was a nice run and all (83 yards), but if you’re going to pick a Buccaneer for this award, it probably should have been Geno Hayes who very nearly killed the Green Bay punter on his way to blocking a punt and a Ronde Barber scoop-and-score. I mean, look at it.

Hayes gets there in less than two seconds, almost as fast as the snap. That was pretty spectacular. I’m also unfairly docking Smith for the wildly-overthrown lateral in the third quarter. Come on, lefty, it was pitch and catch.

THIS IS JUST WRONG: Aww, jeez. Why you gotta go doing stupid shit like this?

Three University of Tennessee football players this morning face attempted armed robbery charges

Janzen Jackson, Michael Edwards and Nu’Keese Richardson, all 18, were charged this morning after an armed robbery attempt at a Pilot station on Cumberland Avenue, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

Each player faces three counts of attempted armed robbery.

I’ve filled up at that Pilot about a thousand times. Hell, I lived across the street from it. So it hits a little close to home to hear that three guys that I root for every Saturday stuck up three poor college students (they showed their wallets were empty) right on campus. Jackson and Edwards I don’t know that much about, but Richardson is a freshman who was showing some promise at wide receiver. What a waste. I hope they’re all expelled and forced to play for some Alabama junior college.

Even more annoying, now when I bring up Urban Meyer‘s track record of harboring criminals, I can’t be all smug about it anymore.

UPDATE: Oh, right, Jackson was suspended last week for “administrative reasons”. He said he learned from his mistake. So now he’s not late for meetings anymore, he just robs people. Douchebag.

“Further, Jackson exposed his teammates to unnecessary injury.”

Ok Cole, lets take a vote among Bucs players and see how many of them wished he’d have taken a knee. I will pay $1,000 to the charity of your choice for every “Yes” vote you get. This is a serious offer.

It was nice to see Peanut (go li’l guys!) back in action. I still hope someone submarines that Carolina Cockbag though. Grudges are all I really have in life.

If Kiffin would just get the boosters to illegally fund his players w/ Hummers and Hookers like FL and the rest of the big BCS programmes (and hey, I actually LIKE FL–don’t hit me!) these guys wouldn’t need to be picking up part time jobs like this.

Oh, and FYI…

Either you didn’t know this and are trying to be funny or you did know it and are taking a shot at the Vols, but that photo is from Gatlinburg, TN. I’ve passed by it a hundred times. Sigh.

The former, tho if I stopped to think about it I suppose I did know that DoH was set in TN. I thought it was funny because of the .com banner. That makes it a technical college. My point being that in AL working at a garage was… well, fuck it, its not going to get any funnier.

As I have family in Cleveland (TN) and my entire family hails from the south I’m not taking shots at Vols. Outside of Kiffin I don’t really care as I don’t really watch college ball.
