They Just Signed A What?

Yeah, I can see him picking a fight for no good reason.
The Bucs just signed a quarterback off the Cowboys’ practice squad? Really?

The Bucs have signed former Arizona State QB Rudy Carpenter from the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad, giving the team four quarterbacks on the 53-man roster.

This kid wasn’t really on my radar during the draft and Arizona State isn’t an SEC school, so I know very little about him. I seem to remember him getting worse as he went through school, though. Like, he had a great freshman year, and then started throwing more picks. And I don’t remember him being all that athletic. Ooh, and there was the pink shirt thing that I read on Deadspin, where he wore a pink shirt to a basketball game and got mocked for it, so he wanted to start fights with everyone. Is that right? I really don’t want to look it up.

Leftwich has not been able to practice or play the past several weeks because of tendonitis in his right throwing elbow. Carpenter would provide immediate help on the look squad.

“The look squad”? Didn’t this used to be called the scout team? Anyway, the Bucs already have a 54-man roster with the Arron Sears exemption that goes on for one more week, so they have to cut someone now to put Carpenter on. They haven’t officially announced who, but you know Matt McCoy is already packing his shit. But I’ll go on a limb and say Derrick Roberson gets the hook. They seem to have a glut of cornerbacks right now, and I don’t think they want to get rid of Mike Mickens, despite the fact that he still hasn’t dressed for a game.
