Dirk Johnson & Torrie Cox Done For The Year

November 30, 2009 at 01:21pm by Scott

Dirk and Torrie look at each other and silently make a pact to end their seasons early.

Both Dirk Johnson and Torrie Cox were moved to injured reserve today after being hurt in the Falcons game. Johnson hurt his hamstring as he was scrambling looking for a receiver on a fake punt. Not sure how that happened. You’d think a punter would have the best hamstrings on the team. And Cox injured his hip in the fourth quarter. The good news for Cox is it isn’t an ACL, both of which are currently made of overchewed Bazooka Joe bubble gum. According to the article, CB Brandon Anderson will be promoted from the practice squad in place of Cox. The team will look to free agency for a new punter, although Connor Barth seemed to do all right in emergency replacement duty. But god forbid you ask a player to do something he doesn’t normally do lest he suffer some season-ending injury.

In the same article, we learn the 2009 fate of Arron Sears.

The Buccaneers also made one additional roster move on Monday, moving guard Arron Sears to the Reserve/Non-Football Illness list.

So that ends Sears’s season, too. Sears wasn’t expected to make a contribution this season, but it would have been nice to see him suit up and take a test drive later in the season. But at least they don’t have to keep a roster spot open for him. Or two, considering the shape he’s in.

Since we are talking injuries, and Clayton is injured, checked his production. He is on schedule to catch 16 balls this season assuming he gets back into the lineup. Can someone put him out of our misery?

God, Cox’s wonky knee ligaments are spreading to his hips now. Dude’s melon is gonna fall clean off his shoulders in six months, mark my words.
