Bucs Crawl To Top Of Draft
December 07, 2009 at 11:42am by Scott • 9 Comments »

Regardless of the outcome of today’s Monday Night game, the Bucs are now slotted #1 in the 2010 draft. The one-win teams from last week are still one-win teams this week, but Tampa Bay will have played the easiest schedule. Depending on tonight, Cleveland and St. Louis would be duking it out for #2 and #3.
After Saturday’s Big 12 Championship game, I’m going to have a hard time selling Eric Berry (Tennessee) over Ndamukong Suh (Nebraska). You can’t deny Suh’s dominance in that game, although the Texas offense looked like hell. But you can’t accuse Suh of playing down to the level of his opponent. I forget the exact play, but he got into the backfield and tossed Colt McCoy three yards for a sack, and I’m using the word “tossed” literally. Like a toy he was tired of playing with. He was like that for most of the game. It was a pretty impressive performance.
Nebraska plays Arizona in some shit bowl I forget now (the Holiday Bowl, I think), so that’s not going to tell us much more about Suh than we already know, so we’ll have to wait a while. But I’ll ride the Berry bandwagon until the wheels fall off.
Keep rooting for St. Louis and Cleveland. Cleveland could potentially win in Kansas City and at home against Oakland. St. Louis will very likely not win again — possibly at home against San Francisco, but I wouldn’t put any money on it. Well, maybe your money.

After pimping here for Berry three or four times I have to change my mind and now let the Bucs know they should draft Suh over Berry. Suh was awesome against Texas. I don’t remember ever seeing a D lineman dominate a game against a very good team like he did. He certainly seems to be at least as talented at his position as Berry is at his. And if the talent at their respective positions is about the same (i.e. both are great) better to draft a tackle than a safety.

It’s starting to look like the Bucs won’t win another game, so let the Suh sweepstakes begin.

St. Louis is the one team that I don’t think we’ll take Suh. Cleveland or Detroit however…don’t make this like ’07!

What are you guys smoking? You can get very good D line talent with both 2nd round picks but Jesus Christ dude have you guys ever even SEEN Eric Berry play? With Tanard Jackson opposite we would fucking KILL people. DRAFT BERRY!

@ Scott: Hate to break this to you man, but the SOS for the 1-11 teams is as follows:
Cleveland .531
St. Louis .547
Tampa Bay .563 (actually the strongest SOS in the league)
Since the draft tie breaker is indirectly related to SOS we are actually slotted @ #3 right now.

I am only counting through 12 games. “If the season ended today.” I think that’s where our difference is.

You know, now that I’ve thought about it a little more, I like your way better. It gives a more realistic picture of what’s going on. I’ll start including the entire schedule in these updates from now on.
Meatmaster (December 08, 2009 at 09:19pm) :
One good game and he’s the next Sapp? Whatever dude.
Hey KingBuc34, go mouthfuck a crocodile!
