Contemplative Peppers wants to know why you no love him no more.

Sorry about the absence yesterday. Couldn’t be avoided. But a few of you sent in some stories, so here they are with your names attached, giving you the notoriety you crave like the whores you know you are. This was fun. Let’s do it again sometime.

BRAIN STEM: Not sure which article out of St. Louis you were reading about the Rams trading with the Bucs since you didn’t provide a link, but I know the Bucs are at least considering trying to trade to get Ndamukong Suh. According to the draft trade chart, whose value is pretty well diminished but for some reason people keep citing it, they Bucs would have to give up their own second-rounder as well as their third to make that happen. And while I agree DT is one of the positions of most need, it’s also a position of great depth in this draft. It’s just not necessary to make this trade.

On the other hand, with Washington known to need a quarterback and the Bucs drafting right ahead of them, the Bucs’ #3 slot becomes quite valuable to a team looking to jump ahead of the Redskins to get the first quarterback. The Bucs could charge a premium for a team who wants to trade up. Seattle or Buffalo make a lot of sense. It’s not such a huge plunge in the first round for the Bucs (although I don’t think Eric Berry will still be around at #8) and an extra second and fourth rounder make a lot of sense in an offseason with such a poor free agency class.

MIA_DOLPHINS: According to Bodog.com, the Bucs are among the least likely in the NFL to win the Super Bowl next year. The Legion of Suck at 100 to 1 includes the Bills, Browns, Lions, Chiefs, Raiders, Rams and the Buccaneers. I guess the mafia doesn’t expect much from Josh Freeman, either.

WORDY SANCHEZ: Wordy compared Julius Peppers to your crazy girlfriend because of his stance of no longer wanting to be a Panther. I say he sounds crazier, like that same girlfriend except she’s Puerto Rican.

In an interview aired Tuesday morning on Charlotte radio station WFNZ-AM, the five-time Pro Bowl defensive end indicated he’s irritated by the team’s “silence” and has changed his stance on whether he wants to continue his career in Carolina.

The team is silent because that’s what it does when it doesn’t know what it wants to do. The Panthers really don’t want to let Peppers walk away for no compensation, but slapping the franchise tag on him again could be dangerous. If he decides to be a dick and sign the franchise tender right away, his $20.1-million salary is guaranteed and he becomes virtually untradeable. The only good news in that case is that it is an uncapped year, so you could still have some lunatic like Dan Snyder or Jerry Jones who would still “trade” to take that salary off the Panthers’ hands, but they sure wouldn’t have to give up much. It would almost be a charitable move.

After being held to a career-low 2 1/2 sacks in 2007, the Panthers still offered to make Peppers the NFL’s highest-paid defensive player. Peppers on Tuesday provided conflicting reasons on why he rejected the contract.

“That deal was to make me the highest-paid defensive player, but slightly, very slightly,” Peppers said. “I didn’t really feel the sincerity behind that deal.”

“Waaaaahhhh! I only would have been the highest-paid defensive player by a few hundred thousand dollars.” Is he fucking serious?

But later in the rambling answer during the radio phone interview, Peppers also indicated he wasn’t worthy of such a deal.

“I had 2 1/2 sacks that season and they’re coming to offer me being the highest-paid defensive player. Like, I can’t even accept that,” Peppers said. “I’m not deserving of that.”

So, he’s saying that he wasn’t deserving of their insincere offer? Dude, when an outfit like the AP says you’re rambling, you know you’re making no damn sense.
