I had heard that the 2007 DirecTV NFL Quarterback Challenge happened in the Caymans last week, but decided not to say anything about it since it just didn't sound very interesting from a Buccaneer perspective. But my boy Paul (who is British so he doesn't know my calling him "my boy" is a term of endearment and not just me being weird) over at Bucpower.com got a great scoop from a radio guy who lives over there and told us something we all knew was true: Michael Clayton is a nice guy.
Mr Clayton - made a real fuss of the local kids in attendance, a real fuss. They cheered his every catch and he in turn provided hi 5's and autographs, made me proud to be a Buc fan. Every time he walked past the press area me and my mate Jay from Cayman Radio did the ...Tampa .............. Bay ........... Tampa .... Bay .....chant to which he smiled. He was kind with my interview and sound bite requests - top man (and he was only there for an hour) !!!
T. J. Houshmandzadeh missed his flight, so Clayton stepped up and came last minute to take his place. He was only there for one set of drills, but apparently left a good impression.
Here's the only thing that worries me, though. Sigh... Clayton is sporting cornrows this season (click for slightly larger version).
Looks a little too close to another player who was at the event. A player who Clayton doesn't want to be associated with in any way -- even superficially.

Between Michael Vick and Randy Moss, maybe let the cornrows rest for a little while. They're a pain in the ass anyway. I know when I finally got rid of mine I gained an extra half hour in the mornings. Those things take time to get them right.
