Apparently, the Buccaneers had the exclusive on negotiating with Monte Kiffin up through yesterday. That time has expired and now Kiffin is free to negotiate with whichever team he wants. Adam Schefter mentions a Jason Garrett/Monte Kiffin package for a team without a head coach out there, but I'm pretty sure that's just Schefter thinking out loud (and into the camera.) Was this a deliberate move by the Buccaneers to get the market to set Kiffin's value, or are the contract details just taking longer to work out?
If Kiffin does move on, I hope Jon Gruden will take a look at promoting Raheem Morris to the defensive coordinator spot. Continuity, people.

Though I would not trade Monte's incoherent ramblings for the world, however the window will close quickly on Morris. The players glowing comments of him, as well as the heightened play of Phillips and Tanard.
If Monte does want to go elsewhere, I highly agree we need to promote from within.

From what I hear (which is admittedly very censored), I suspect that Morris will be a great d-coordinator. I do not know that however. What I know, is that Monte is a great d-coordinator (and I have no reason to believe he has lost his touch). I suspect that Monte is close to retiring or joining his son, but I don't know that either.
Given this, I would prefer to keep Monte, but I would like to find a way to lock up Morris for the future. I would suggest some sort of contract stating the team's desire that he succeed Monte and promising him extra money each year that he is not made the d-coordinator.
