I guess it's partly Brett Favre's fault for not stating without hesitation that he will not return. He had that teary goodbye press conference and said he just didn't want to play anymore, and it sounded sincere, but until he makes a statement that is more definite or becomes too old to make a reasonable comeback, this kind of shit is going to continue. And as long as it does, Jon Gruden is going to be part of the discussion.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers might be just such a team. The Bucs were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs last season, so adding Favre could push them to Super Bowl-contending status. It doesn't hurt that Bucs coach Jon Gruden worked with Favre as an offensive assistant in Green Bay, or that Tampa Bay's offense would be somewhat familiar.
The Bucs lost a playoff game last year with a 37 year old quarterback. So what they really need is an even older quarterback whose last NFL pass was an interception to eliminate his team from the playoffs.
See how dumb that sounds when you say it out loud? Stop this. Favre is a notorious ham, and the attention just encourages him to continue this "we'll see" game he's playing. He's like a child. Ignore his antics and he'll stop. Besides, do you really think the Packers are going to let him wear any other uniform? They own his rights through 2010 and I'd imagine there's no amount of trade compensation that would make them give him up. The Favre legacy and his history of crippling interceptions will just have to stay in Green Bay
