En Garde!

343 pounds of fuck you.
And the hits just keep on coming.

More amazing FA news: Bucs & Pro Bowl G Carl Nicks have agreed to a 5-year, $47.5M deal. That’s 3 Pro Bowlers on the Bucs’ O-Line now.

Not just three Pro Bowlers, but three big, stout, road-grating Pro Bowlers. The Bucs’ offensive line is huge now. You wanted the Bucs to spend money, they’re spending money.

Speaking of which, for as long as I can remember, the terms of contracts were never released by the Bucs themselves. The media always had to look them up themselves after they’d been filed with the league. But the above tweet was published on the Bucs’ official Twitter account. My guess is that they realize people find out anyway and this way they get fans excited right away about how much the team is spending. I wonder who the first asshole will be to accuse the Glazers of trying to buy a championship.

It’s already started. This is the only site I comment on but I like reading other comments on sites like pft and jbuc for my own amusement. There is a bunch of assholes already saying “guess they didnt take notes from the eagles last year”. Only a matter of time til writers follow suite. I give it til tomorrow.

My money is on Martin Fennelly.

I’ll settle for just buying a playoff birth. If they can buy a championship, more power to them!

This is not a new phenomenon, “‘We played the pipe for you andyou did not dance; we sang a dirge and you did not cry.’”

I would say Gary Shelton.

Gary was my second choice.

Here is a link to PWF writer Dan Parr’s article. It waves a red flag on the Nick’s acquisition, to which I say Peww to Parr. We have been suffering a long time with an offensive line that never quite gets there. I love the addition of Nicks.

Yeah, that PFW article is basically just saying “If the Saints didn’t do enough to keep him, they must not have wanted him enough, and therefore he can’t be worth it.”

That’s just dumb, especially considering the Saints offered him a strong contract. Great move, and it will make the rest of the O-line look good too.

Anyone else wonder if the Wright signing means the Bucs aren’t optimistic about Ronde coming back?

Mark S (March 14, 2012 at 11:57am:

I think they are just afraid that Aqib is not coming back, at least for a full year. If he is suspended how do you think he will spend his “off” time? Probably puffing on a coke pipe. Even if Ronde comes back we don’t know how much he has left. Even he has enough left to play well this year who gets that spot next year? Wright and MC should enable us to move forward no matter what happens to either Aqib or Ronde.

Put me in the VERY HAPPY camp. I wanted the Bucs to draft Wright and they didn’t, but he played very well on crappy teams. Jackson should be something we haven’t had since early Joey Galloway. And Nicks is just fucking awesome.

Kudos to Mark Dominick!

These are the kinds of moves Bucs fans are used to seeing other teams make. The fact that this time we’re the ones making the moves and spending big bucks for big-time players is just great.

It is about time the Bucs started moving and shaking. Did they overpay? Yes, they did. But everybody overpays in free agency. I see no downside to any of these moves. And I don’t think they’re done yet.

Why did they release Faine? They didn’t need to cap wise, I hope it doesn’t come back to haunt them.

Yeah, I think Zuttah is over rated. But as a former Rutgers guy, Schiano is obviously in his corner, so I guess this was the least controversial way to let Zuttah start. Maybe?

Wait until you read Fennelly’s column this morning. The guy is pure scum.

I’m not familiar with the history of Fennelly hate. I read his article, wasn’t particularly offended?

Darren47

Darren47 (March 15, 2012 at 10:05am:

His flippant comments about seeking out Peyton Manning (mentioned at the beginning and end of article) were clearly veiled shots at Freeman. The guy has been incapable, over the past five seasons, to write anything thoroughly positive about the Bucs. There always as to be an outsized element of snark and douchebaggery.

His latest thing didn’t offend me. But I can see how the Peyton comments could be a dig at Freeman. If Fennelly considered Freeman an elite quarterback (or even capable of being elite), that “joke” wouldn’t have made any sense. I think it was unnecessary and lends nothing to the story, but if Freeman wants to avoid cracks at his expense, he should probably play better.
