As I previously stated I’m 120% behind the Barron pick. Dude is a difference maker from day one and will being a little John Lynch hitting from the secondary. Now as far as Martin…I gotta say I was a little upset at the time that we did not draft Upshaw or David….this morning I have come to terms with it and I kinda like the Muscle Hamster. I think he’ll be a nice compliment to Blount, I’m just hoping we trade into the 2nd round and grab one of those Linebackers.

Someone at ESPN, I think it was McShay, said Martin does not have speed to turn the corner. How is 4.48 not fast enough to turn the corner? It’s faster than most LBs and safeties. Maybe he should look at these highlights. Lots of runs around the corner. Plenty of examples where he is outrunning a defensive back.

I’m sitting here watching the second round and just realized dexter Jackson won’t get to announce a pick. Boy the Bucs are tough on the guys that got them a Super Bowl.

BaldBuc4055 (April 27, 2012 at 08:34pm:

Mark, that’s why I watch NFL Network’s coverage, superior to ESPN’s in every way.

Scott (April 27, 2012 at 08:46pm:

I’ll bet they let him announce their third rounder.

Scott (April 27, 2012 at 08:48pm:

Never mind. Tampa traded back into the second.

avanderlay (April 27, 2012 at 08:57pm:

L David, nice trade and pick

Looks like we gave up 3rd and 4th for an extra 7th, did I see that right, anyone know definitely

I still think Dominick is a stiff, but this year’s draft is looking much better — on paper, of course. I sure hope this new coaching staff can turn some of Dom’s picks into Pro Bowlers.

I’m happy both the Saints and Falcons have been handcuffed with only a limited number of picks, but it totally sucks that Carolina ended up with Kuechly.

One other observation, how many years has it been since a Gator or a Nole hasn’t been drafted in any of the first 3 rounds?! On top of that, no player from a Florida school was drafted in the first 2 rounds. What the hell has happened to Florida football??? Both college and pro football in the state sucked in 2011. I sure hope somebody will be a winner in 2012!

manbearpig (April 28, 2012 at 08:11am:

I stand corrected haha. Awesome pickup. I’ll try to be nicer to Dom.

Dominick is great at targeting needs and this year is no exception. I’ve only really disliked one high pick he’s made at the time he made it, and that was Freeman, so of course I was wrong. But the high hopes that I’ve had for what seemed like great picks have yet to be fulfilled, maybe due to poor coaching, maybe due to over-rating the talent because it seems to fit the needs. We’ll see, I guess.

campyone (April 28, 2012 at 12:07pm:

@Louie – I read somewhere else that 1980 was the last time no Gator, Cane, or Semihole was taken in the FIRSTfirst round. It must be longer than that if ever that nobody from any of those three schools was taken in one of the first three.

FireThemCannons (April 28, 2012 at 12:21pm:

Well..I think everyone knows how happy FireThemCannons is now that we have my boy Lavonte David…Love them Huskers. They say he’s undersized….They said 55 was undersized too just sayin.

Just saw an interview with Schiano about the picks. He may be new to the NFL, but he impressed the heck out of me. You can sense the confidence, but he’s never cocky. And he knows exactly how he’s planning to use these new players. I think the Bucs are headed in the right direction.
