Semi Rear Entries

Sorry, no clicky and I have probably lost 95% of the readers already. But for those who want to catch up on the latest articles around the web, stay tuned.

From the St. Pete Times we learn that the Nose Tackle position is undecided.  Roy Miller has been getting most of the first team snaps.  That may be because Gibson has missed some practice time with an injury.  The injury does not sound serious.  Okoye is getting snaps but the article speculates that he will be a factor mostly on passing downs.  There is a quote from Schiano about how impressed he is with McCoy.

At the bottom there is a recap of some injuries, which mostly seem to be nicks. Mark Barron, toe; Okoye, knee (precautionary); Michael Bennet, unknown and Ronde Barber, took day off to rest.

Another article focuses on how well Dallas Clark is performing.

This story is about how well Carl Nicks is fitting in to the Buccaneers.  Rick Stroud, already calls him the best free agent signing ever.  Gee Rick, weren’t you gushing over Vincent Jackson just the other day?  I hope Rick is right. I believe that football teams should be built from the inside out.  Meaning, getting the offensive and defensive lines right is the highest priority.

From the Tampa Bay Tribune we get an article that recounts how LeGarrette Blount has bought into an off-season diet and conditioning program and as a result is in great shape. Schiano praises him for buying in and his hustle on the field.  It’s good to hear something positive about Blount.  With him, Martin and Smith we have the coveted combination of LG, M and S in the backfield.  I am looking forward to some explosive play from this trio.

Pro Football Weekly has an article on Donald Penn. It recounts his success in 2010 when he made the pro-bowl and also his decline in 2011 when he allowed 9 sacks.  The usual themes of conditioning and help from the acquisition of Nicks are mentioned.

And here is another article praising Gerald McCoy. By all accounts he is having a great camp.

SI has reported the OT Jeff Otah has been cut by the Panthers. Might we see him in Pewter and Red?  He is not ready to play today, but could be insurance for a team thin at Tackle.

For those of you who read everything, I now get the opportunity to say thank you.  Scott will be back Monday with his unique combination of insight and snarkiness.  Thank you Scott for letting me fill in.

Nice job, Mark. As for Otah, I don’t know if I could see the Bucs picking him up. He’d provide depth at OT, but he’s also made of glass. I saw that he’s missed 31 of the last 35 games. He may be talented, but if he can’t stay on the field, it doesn’t matter how good he is.

Next Sat I’m heading to millers ale house to see if the game is on there. I will be riding my red&black nighthawk 700s. So let’s hope it don’t rain. I am excited to see our bucs “live” on a screen. Meet some fellow Bucs fans, drink a beer or two eat then ride home.
