Hope USF Can Score A Lot Of Points

For the second time in as many weeks, an assistant coach that I mentioned on this site as needing to be replaced moved to a college job. FEAR MY POWER! This time, Ron Cooper, who oversaw the worst passing defense in Buccaneer history (I want you to sit and think for a minute about how many awful Buc teams there have been since 1976 and realize that Cooper’s was worse than all of them) took the DB coach job at USF because apparently USF cornerbacks were getting a little too full of themselves. Skip Holtz surely remembers Patrick Peterson was awesome and Morris Claiborne was excellent and that Tyrann Mathieu at one time wasn’t a punchline and he thinks Cooper can make his guys that good too. And maybe whatever Cooper does works in college, although I’m guessing he might have benefitted from the extraordinary stroke of luck in getting three supremely gifted athletes into LSU that could overcome their coaching. But holy shit, I don’t care. I’m just glad he’s gone. Although I am slightly uncomfortable that he went to USF. I’m concerned that the ora of his shittiness will linger around Raymond James after the Saturday games and into Sunday, settling on the Buccaneer sidelines like a cursed fog and continue to get our guys burned down the sidelines.
In fact, the Bucs secondary should probably just hire a priest or witch doctor as the DB coach for next year. It might get rid of the bad mojo every week and the cornerbacks would learn just as much as they did this year.
