This Is Less Than Encouraging

I know it’s just a couple quotes from an unnamed source, but this PFW article is a little disconcerting. Here are the good bits, and by good I mean pretty much the opposite of good:
“I saw how Morris coached at Kansas State,” said a veteran coach of Morris’ one year (2006) as the team’s D-coordinator. “It was not good. There was little leadership by him. The defense was bad. He basically got fired. … He was not ready to take over for a Hall of Fame defensive coordinator (Kiffin), let alone become the head coach.
“It’s baffling to me.”
“This may be another one-year experiment gone bad,” said one league executive. “I’ll tell you this: I can’t wait to play them. Everyone who knew what they were doing in that building is gone.”
Huh. Well, there’s an angle we didn’t hear over the weekend. The Wildcats defense improved during the year Morris was at Kansas State, so the source must mean there were other problems or he is just being a hater. And we all trust the opinions of Ronde Barber and Derrick Brooks, don’t we? I mean, there’s no way those guys would be blinded by their friendship with Morris and would give him their ringing endorsements if he wasn’t completely qualified, right? Even though Brooks’s contract ends in 2009 and Barber’s in 2010 and neither of them will likely be around if the whole house of cards comes crashing down?
