According to PFT by way of the Kalamazoo Gazette, Bucs’ wide receivers coach P.J. Fleck will take the head coaching job at Western Michigan next Tuesday. And Vincent Jackson better damn well get a muffin basket from Fleck on his way out. The receiving corps is the only group that has pretty consistently produced this season and I’m going to guess that Fleck gets about 10% of the credit for that. Jackson makes every receiver he plays with look better and, apparently, makes receivers coaches get head coaching jobs. Seriously, Fleck. Muffin basket.
No word on who Fleck’s potential replacement might be, but if he can get Jackson to the stadium on time and point in the general direction of the field, he should do fine.

Maybe the Bucs have more coaches than we think and they’re just not telling us about it. Roy Cummings made the bold and unorthodox move of calling One Buc Place, and that little nugget of investigative work paid off.
Though his hiring has not been announced, P.J. Fleck answered the phone Monday at One Buc Place. More than a week ago, ESPN reported Fleck had agreed to become the Bucs receivers coach.
Well, I guess it’s official now even if the team didn’t want it to be. Coaches may be trickling in at such a slow pace that the Bucs don’t want to call attention to it by making an announcement every week when they finally hire someone. The plan may be to introduce everyone at once and trying to fool us that they’ve been there all along. Cummings could break this thing wide open by dressing up as a pizza delivery guy and telling the receptionist that he has a pizza for various people like “R.B. Coach” and seeing where she sends him.
